Guillermo Ceniceros is a Mexican painter and muralist, best known for his mural work in Mexico City, as well as his figurative easel work. He began his mural painting career as an assistant to mural painters such as Federico Cantú, Luis Covarrubias and then David Alfaro Siqueiros who was a mentor and a key influence.
Guillermo Ceniceros is a celebrated Mexican artist known for his mastery of figurative drawing, his subtle yet powerful compositions, and his deep engagement with geometry, symmetry, and the human form. Born in Durango in 1939, Ceniceros was trained as a draftsman and muralist, and he worked as an assistant to the famed muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros. This early experience deeply shaped his artistic language, imbuing it with both monumental ambition and meticulous technical control. Unlike the overt political themes of the Mexican muralist movement, however, Ceniceros has largely pursued more introspective and poetic concerns, focusing on form, balance, and psychological presence in his paintings and prints.
