In her artistic work, Engeln explores multifaceted themes inspired by travel observations, which she captures in her paintings and prints. She examines the tension between balance and disruption, highlighting the beauty and vulnerability of our world. Since 2012, she has been complementing her paintings with multicolored woodcuts and screen prints, creating playful and associative collages of various motifs.
This aesthetically appealing screen print artwork depicts a harmonious beach scene, featuring three young women in a relaxed bathing situation. They encounter oversized animals and insects portrayed in surreal sizes and situations. The women either observe or ignore each other while resting. These harmonious encounters are hand-printed on paper in four colors, offering a beautiful perspective and high aesthetic appeal.
