Deconstructed and cropped images of a picnic table, a lawn chair, flowers, and a pineapple upside cake are represented in Patty deGrandpre’s 12 x 12 inch contemporary mixed media monoprint titled “Picnic”. Hues of vivid red, yellow, blue, and black both contrast and compliment in this dynamic abstracted pictorial. Embracing both experimental printmaking and creative photography, applications of block printing ink and digital inkjet are skillfully multi layered onto Red River photo paper to create a dynamic graphic interlacing of whimsical shapes, color blocked forms, and pictures. deGrandpre’s prints evolve from the vast catalog of photographs of common objects and scenes from her life. The imagery not only serves as visual content for deGrandpre’s artwork but as a tool for the artist to document and recall moments in her life. Signed and dated on the front right corner, this one of a kind print is a modern blend of the recognizable and the abstract. The vibrant playful print will ship flat in a protective sleeve and will make a striking addition to any contemporary collection.
DeGrandpre received her BFA in Visual Design from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1987. She has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston Massachusetts.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.

Snapshots of a Western United States highway and it’s vast scenic surroundings are printed on Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper in both black and white as well as monochromatic red.
