Patty deGrandpre’s “Vacated but Longing to Find (Texas blue and yellow)” is a 9.875 x 7.875 inch unique contemporary landscape inkjet print represented on 14 x 10 inch Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper embracing creative photography and digital print making. An abandoned gas station in hues of green and blue and a deserted dwelling in contrasting warm yellows are the two distinct images in this depiction of rural southern Texas. Conspicuously out of place, a black table and chair set as well as a vintage hairdryer chair appear as apparitions as they are thoughtfully superimposed within the neglected overgrown southwestern roadside landscaping that surrounds the structures. The use of a minimal color palette is deliberate and uncomplicated as colors blend effortlessly to create this modern striking composition. Her inkjet printer becomes her press as she prints layers upon layers of inkjet creating unique prints with lavish color and tone. deGrandpre’s vast catalog of images and photographs from her own life and travels are the catalyst of her artwork as they are deconstructed and cropped and repurposed with a graphic sensibility. This one-of-a-kind print is signed on the bottom right hand corner of the media and will ship in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice. Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
