About the Item

This strikingly modernist 1953 poster by renowned graphic artist Paul Colin highlights Électricité de France (EDF) and its initiative, Parts de Production, reflecting the optimism and forward-looking spirit of post-war industrial growth in France. With his iconic style of clean lines, bold colors, and geometric abstraction, Colin presents a striking visual metaphor for electricity as innovation and progress. Against a deep, electric-blue background—symbolic of both power and modernity—two stylized hands confidently hold aloft luminous symbols of electric lighting: a fluorescent tube and a traditional incandescent bulb. The minimalist rendering of these familiar objects emphasizes EDF’s critical role in illuminating and energizing French society. Commissioned by EDF, the national electric utility established in 1946, this poster was part of a broader campaign designed to engage public awareness and investment in national infrastructure and energy development. Colin’s imagery perfectly captures the excitement of industrial modernization in post-war France, positioning electricity as essential to daily life and national prosperity. Paul Colin (1892–1985), famed for his iconic jazz-age and theatrical posters, here demonstrates a mastery of corporate and industrial graphic design. His confident use of form and color serves not only aesthetic purposes but effectively conveys messages of technological advancement and public participation. Today, this original poster remains an evocative example of mid-20th-century French graphic design, testifying to an era of visionary optimism, industrial expansion, and artistic innovation. 1982 vintage poster by Razzia for the Paris Posters exhibition
By Razzia (Gérard Courbouleix–Dénériaz)
Located in PARIS, FR
This striking 1982 vintage poster, designed by Razzia, was created to promote the Paris Posters exhibition at the Musée de l’Affiche et de la Publicité during the summer (Été 82). Featuring a bold and graphic collage-style composition, the artwork embodies the dynamic energy of 1980s design. Razzia, a renowned French graphic artist, is celebrated for his iconic Art Deco-inspired poster designs with a modern twist. In this piece, he juxtaposes a stylized black-and-white Eiffel Tower, a monochrome portrait of a woman, and an accordion transformed into the Arc de Triomphe, all set against a dramatic black background with vivid color accents. The use of cutout-style imagery and neon-inspired typography reflects the postmodern aesthetic of the early 1980s, capturing the bold creativity of the era. The vibrant contrast of yellow, red, and blue highlights adds to the poster’s visual impact, making it a standout example of contemporary French graphic design. A rare and collectible piece, this original Razzia poster...

1943 Original french propaganda poster from WWII - Working in Nazi Germany
Located in PARIS, FR
Since 1940, and throughout the war, many foreign volunteers chose to work in Germany, whether for ideological reasons or, more often, for wages or even the release of close prisoners. But from March 1942 onwards, the Nazi government launched a vast policy designed to bring about an influx of labor on its soil. Indeed, due to the ever-increasing need for men in the army, the mines, industry and agriculture lacked the manpower to support the war effort. As a prime target for this search, Vichy France...

Located in Spokane, WA
Original small format poster Affiches Paul Mohr, 1932. Archival linen backed in excellent condition, ready to frame. The rare Paul Mohr posters are incredibly elusive; many have had only one remaining known copy survive. Printing method: Helio-Typo or Typelo. Before television, beautiful lithographs adorn the streets and walls of Paris and other European cities. Art for the street, art for the public. Weather and rain would destroy these works of art by renowned artists, only to be replaced. The artist: Paul Gustave Mohr, a French Avant-garde poster designer from the Art Deco period was born Sept. 4, 1890 in Ham, France and died on April 13, 1959 in Paris. He lived most of his life in Paris, and then settled in the small town of Asnieres, France, just outside of Paris. He attended the Sorbonne University, as well as several art schools. During World War I, he was a pilot in the French Army from 1914-1917. Paul Mohr married Jeanne Levy in 1917 and they had three daughters: Helene, Genevieve, and Jacqueline. As an artist, he designed advertising posters from 1920 to 1940. His posters advertised Wonder cycles, Dainty cycles, Lustucru pasta, Banania sugar, Bremsit brakes, Champigneulles beer, L'Union beer, Dubonnet wine, as well as shoes and ham. This information was provided to me by my mother, Helene Mohr Breitenbucher, who was his eldest daughter. Carol Schuler (granddaughter) Advertising posters, the affiches of Paul Mohr.
