Printed using hand drawn lithographic plates(not a photo reproduction or digital print) on archival heavy weight Coventry printmaking paper, 100% acid free. Edition was produced in accordance with the Picasso family under the supervision of Marcel Salinas, master chromist who worked closely with Pablo Picasso during his lifetime. Bears the estate approved printed signature of Picasso on lower margin. Lithograph is in excellent condition, never been framed or mounted. Picasso's TÊTE D'HOMME is an engaging abstract portrait of a bearded man's face expressed with distorted facial features - eyes set wide apart, flared nostrils, half smiling lips and bearded chin slightly twisted to the right. TÊTE D'HOMME's unique, neutral color combination comprised of shades of light cream, cool grays, white, rose, maroon, charcoal and black create a twisted, yet appealing unconventional visual depiction of a spirited male countenance Picasso style!

He was also a noted sculptor and graphic artist. Appel attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Amsterdam (1940–43), and helped found the “Reflex” group, which became known as CoBRA (for Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam), in 1948. He moved to Paris in 1950 and by the 1960s had settled in New York City; he later lived in Italy and Switzerland. Partly in reaction against what they perceived as the sterile academicism of the de Stijl movement, the CoBRA artists...
