Description:
A masterful collaboration between three generations of Mexican creativity — this limited-edition broadside features a pair of sacred villancicos (carols) written in 1676 by the great baroque poet and nun Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, visually reimagined with a stunning linocut of La Virgen de Guadalupe by acclaimed printmaker Artemio Rodríguez.
Rodríguez’s work, rooted in traditional woodcut and linoleum techniques, is a powerful homage to Mexico’s iconographic and devotional culture. His striking central image is surrounded by typographic artistry from Taller Martín Pescador, one of the most esteemed fine presses in Latin America, founded by Juan Pascoe. The result is both reverent and contemporary — a tribute to Mexico’s spiritual and literary legacy.
Printed on high-quality handmade paper with letterpress type, this piece is a standout example of modern Mexican fine press printing and printmaking.
About the Artist:

He is founder of La Mano Press and is recognized for his bold, narrative linocuts that merge folkloric, political, and religious themes.

View AllMujer de San Felipe
Located in Palm Springs, CA
Mujer de San Felipe presents a richly colored woodcut that portrays a young woman standing in a rustic scene framed by lush foliage and architectural elements. The confident posture, stylized line work, and bold palettes align closely with Oñate’s characteristic depictions of indigenous and rural Mexican life, where he frequently blended cultural representation with modern graphic sensibility.
Francisco Rodríguez Oñate (1940–2019) was a distinguished Mexican post-war and contemporary artist whose career extended over several decades throughout Mexico, the United States, and Latin America. Born in Michoacán, he received his education at the Escuela Popular de Bellas Artes at the University of Michoacán, where he studied under esteemed artists such as Alfredo Zalce, Roberto Martínez, and Javier Arévalo...

Flores Para Jaurez
By Oscar Magallanes
Located in Palm Springs, CA
Signed and numbered. Flores Para Juarez pays homage to the women in Juarez, Mexico. The female figure in the image is a friend of Magallanes who had witnessed a lot of abuse growing up in Juarez, and emerged from her experience a very strong woman. Magallanes’ piece is part of an ongoing series of portraits of personal heroes and martyrs that also serves as a mapping of the artist’s own psyche through his cultural, historical and political influences.
Oscar Magallanes was born in 1976 in Duarte, CA. He recalls, “The first art I saw were murals of Zapata and Mexica glyphs from the Chicano movement. These were juxtaposed next to homeboy role calls and Old English writing. I didn’t see a gallery or museum until I was 15.” After a troubled youth and his expulsion from high school at the age of fifteen, Oscar was accepted into the Ryman Arts program which he credits with encouraging him to pursue a career in art.
From 1998 to 2003 Oscar’s studio was located in the thriving Pomona Artist Colony. Oscar also worked closely with the late Gilbert “Magu” Lujan...
