The lithographic technique employed in its creation adds to the aesthetic appeal, showcasing the artist's skill in printmaking. Banuta Ancane (1941) is a Latvian graphic artist, works in portrait graphics and book graphics, using mainly lithography and etching techniques. Baņuta Ancāne was born on November 8, 1941 in Kārsava in the family of Jānis Ancāns (1911 - 1945), an agronomist and member of the People's Saeima, and Valentina Ancāne. The artist's husband, Vladislavs Grishins, is a graphic artist, and her daughter, Anna Ancāne, is an art scholar. Studied at the Latvian Academy of Arts in the Department of Graphics, which she graduated in 1967 with the diploma thesis "Portraits of Actors" (Kārlis Sebris, Rasma Garne, Antra Liedskalniņa, Leo Šmits) in etching technique. From 1969, a member of the Union of Artists. Received several awards: diploma at the 4th All-Union Stamp Exhibition (1974), diplomas at the 4th and 5th Tallinn Graphics Triennale (1977, 1980), diploma at the 2nd Riga Miniature Graphics Triennale (1987), Diploma of the Union of Artists and medal for the best creation of 1988 achievement Works in graphics and book illustrations. In the etching technique, she found her own unique methods of finishing the surface of the metal plate, which gives a silver tint in the print. She mostly works in the color lithography technique, making landscapes and still lifes, as well as psychologically heightened portraits with a complex associative subtext. She made book illustrations in watercolor, pastel and drawing. The artist has been participating in exhibitions since 1966. Personal exhibitions took place in Riga in 1991 and 1994 at the Overseas Art Museum, in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007 at the National State Art Museum.
