About the Item
We are please to present Ceravolo's "Alphabet Series" of iconic portraits. Ceravolo has been a master of creating intriguing portraits of iconic personalities for more then 4 decades, and rose to fame when he was commissioned to create 5 large-scale portraits for the lobby of the Palladium Theatre in New York City of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Frank Zappa and Hall and Oates. In addition to those portraits, his paintings are in the private collections of Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Hugh M. Hefner, and Prince Jefri of Brunei to name only a few.
With his new Alphabet series, Ceravolo combines an image of his stylized black and white portrait painting, combined with letters of the alphabet and adds color to the negative space formed by the letters. As a result, you see the portrait of Sophia Loren showing through the letters of the alphabet. As final touch, he places a transparent color in the letters that make up the letters S O P H I A.
This work is titled, "Alphabet Sophia Aqua" and is printed on Rag paper the size is 36x30". framed size measures 42x36". It is signed by Ceravolo.
Ceravolo
The paintings of Ceravolo can be found in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, PETE DAVIDSON, GRANT CARDONE, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few. His art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create five large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. The large oil paintings were of legendary Superstars in the music business, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Hall and Oates. Ceravolo started to add abstract elements to his realistic figurative oil paintings and he coined the term Portrait Illusions in 1979 which referred to the appearance of the finished painting where the color abstract areas of the painting gave the illusion that they were "floating" in front of the realistic figure which he painted in values of Gray, Black and White on the canvas. This unique technique caught the eye of many collectors and galleries and brought the work of Ceravolo to a worldwide audience. He works at his Hampton's studio creating his Urban POP paintings where he still combines colorful abstract elements with Black, White and Gray figurative images.

"Put Into Words #2" Traditional Wooden Typography on Reclaimed Poster Paper
By Ro Barragan
Located in New York, NY
In Ro Barragan's latest work we explore a production of typographic posters that seeks to highlight the multiplicity of meanings in everyday messages. Words meet, bifurcate, overlap, amalgamate and juxtapose in speeches and the context of communications. It is in this complex multiplicity, that manifests itself in a printed text, which also functions as an image. The material used is the same as the one historically used in urban advertising posters: the work is developed by using typographic printing methods, with mobile types of wood, in typographic families dating back to the last century. The works of art are printed on sulfite paper of various sizes. This piece comes displayed on a black contemporary frame under glass.
Art measures 38.25 x 26.25 in
Frame measures 43.5 x 31.5 in
The machines of the early 20th century and manual presses of various sizes are used for printing, which still works in historical workshops in Argentina – Pucará printing shop in La Tablada - and in the Ilusión Gráfica workshop, owned by Ro Barragán, where it is sought to continue the tradition and the typographic trade, linking its production with artistic practices.
Ro holds a Master in Aesthetics and Art Theory by the National University of La Plata, all while developing artistic activities since 1994. She has participated in collective and individual exhibitions in Painting, Engraving, Objects, Digital Art, Installations and Interactive Art, in Buenos Aires and other cities of Argentina, Bogotá, Rome, and Miami. She also has developed art activities in the context of the street, through stickers and posters. She is a Teacher of the Engraving and Complementary Printed Art Workshop at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the National University of La Plata and a teacher of the typography workshop at the Museo de Calcos y Escultura comparada Ernesto de la Cárcova, city of Buenos Aires. She is the creator of Ilusión Gráfica, a typographic printing company that seeks to preserve the tradition of printing with wooden mobile...
