Produced in 'Einstein Year, 2005' this edition is also a study for a larger work 'Einstein & The Jealous Monk (after Bob Dylan)', which is in the museum's permanent collection of Huddersfield Art Gallery, where it hangs alongside works by Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Jacob Epstein and Walter Sickert. This print also has museum provenance, since it was also shown at the unveiling of 'Einstein & The Jealous Monk'.
Established British artist Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017) enjoyed many solo museum shows and has works in public collections including the British Museum, London. To be released in late 2024, a feature-length documentary has just been made on his life and work, featuring Maggi Hambling, Thurston Moore, and various art historians including his biographer Tamsin Pickeral. Gollon had great empathy for people and warmth for humanity, even in his still life paintings the objects seem to have a human essence, as in these homeless flowers, which seem alive and attentive to the viewer.
The frame shown is a bespoke hand-made frame, designed by Chris and hand-made by Possible Frame, London.
