This edition is also a study for Chris Gollon's highly-acclaimed 'Fourteen Stations of the Cross', permanently installed in the Grade I Listed Church of St John on Bethnal Green, designed by Sir John Soane (architect of the Bank of England) and located next to the Young V&A in East London. Gollon's 'Fourteen Stations of the Cross' were Critic;s Choice in The Times, the Financial Times and inspired novelist Sara Maitland's book 'Stations of the Cross' (Bloomsbury, London & New York). Gollon's Stations of the Cross were also featured in BBC1's flagship Easter programme in 2024 'Gareth Malone's Easter Passion', in which Gollon's approach to the Passion was equated with that of Johan Sebastian Bach's approach.
British artist Chris Gollon (1953 - 2017) enjoyed many solo museum shows and has works in public collections including the British Museum, London. To be released in late 2024, a feature-length documentary has just been made on his life and work, featuring Maggi Hambling, Thurston Moore, and various art historians including his biographer Tamsin Pickeral. Gollon had great empathy for people and warmth for humanity, even in his still life paintings the objects seem to have a human essence, as in these homeless flowers, which seem alive and attentive to the viewer. A feature length documentary on Gollon's life and work, featuring Thurston Moore, Maggi Hambling, Sara Maitland and various art historians is to be premiered in late 2024.

LATEST NEWS: the new feature-length documentary on Chris Gollon's life and work 'CHRIS GOLLON: Life in Paint' will have its World Premier at the Barbican Centre, London, on 29th Oct 2024, as part of the Doc 'N Roll Festival. The film features interviews with Maggi Hambling, Thurston Moore, Eleanor McEvoy, as well as art historians, leading collectors and writers.
