This very large advertisement poster was created by Mobil in 1981 to promote Nevil Shute's A Town Like Alice, presented by Mobil Masterpiece Theatre. The poster serves as a striking visual representation of the series, capturing the essence of the story and the prestigious nature of the television program.
This long-running anthology series, known today as Masterpiece, has been a staple of quality television drama since its debut in 1971. Sponsored by Mobil Oil (later ExxonMobil), the series brought critically acclaimed British productions to American audiences, often featuring adaptations of classic literature and historical dramas. A Town Like Alice was one such adaptation, fitting perfectly into the series' reputation for excellence.
