A beautiful large-format print of Shirley Eaton and make-up artist, Paul Rabinger, behind the scenes on the set of Goldfinger - the third movie in the Bond series. The image was originally captured by photojournalist, Eve Bowen, in 1964. This stunning limited edition print, which was commissioned later, is numbered 8/20 and features an inscription on the rear as follows: 'Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson in Pinewood Studios 1964, CTYPE Print 8/20'. Goldfinger launched the James Bond franchise into stratosphere upon its release in 1964 and became a cultural phenomenon. In one of the most unforgettable scenes in the movie, Auric Goldfinger's now legendary henchman, 'Oddjob', renders Bond unconscious during his romantic interlude with Jill Masterson, played by British actress, Shirley Eaton. When Bond regains consciousness, he finds a deceased Masterson lying face-down on the bed and covered from head to toe in gold paint. Goldfinger ordered Masterson's death, when she collaborated with Bond to ensure his defeat during a high-stakes card game. The manner of her execution is intended to serve as a warning to Bond to stay out of his business. However, predictably, it only serves to deepen 007's resolve to bring Goldfinger and his criminal empire crashing to the ground! The photograph is in good condition with handling creases. The image dimensions are 51 x 50.5 cm and the sheet size is 56 x 56 cm. The overall framed dimensions are 75 x 90 cm. Eve Bowen was an iconic American female photographer. Her estate is curated at the Hayward Archive in London, and this official archival print bears a blind stamp, lower left, as follows: 'THE HAYWARD / ARCHIVE PRINT'. Eve Bowen was particularly active in the 1960s - a period when most of her most iconic photos were taken. In addition to her work for EON Productions on Goldfinger, she is also remembered for her timeless images of Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
