Franciszek Bunsch
Franciszek Bunsch was born in Bielsko-Biała on August 9, 1926. He studied painting under the guidance of prof. Eugeniusz Eibisch and graphic art as a student of prof. Andrzej Jurkiewicz, prof. Ludwik Gardowski and prof. Konrad Srzednicki at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Then, he continued his education at the Akademie Výtvarných Umění in Prague for two years. Between 1952–65, he was an assistant to prof. Ludwik Gardowski in the studio of wood engraving at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. After prof. Gardowski’s retirement, he became the head of the studio which he managed until 1996. In the meantime, in 1990 he was awarded the title of a full professor. At the Academy, he had different programs and organizational duties. He was the Vice-Rector twice in the years 1972–75 and 1984–87. He presented his works at various exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
