AMERICAN REVOLUTION JEAN HANCOCK, c. 1776 PRESIDENT AU CONGRES DES XIII PROVINCES UNIES D’AMERIQUE, Ne a Boston - c 1776, Mezzotint, very good impression. 7 ¾ x 6 ¼”, sheet 11 5/8 x 8 1/8”. Published in London by Thomas Hart. After a painting by Jean Wilkinson. There was a similar but larger version published by C. Shephard engraved by C. Corbutt in 1775. All are related to a painting of Hancock by John Singleton Copley (1738-1815). Trimmed at the platemark and attached to a sheet of 18th c. paper. Probably from an album. Some minor rubbing of the mezzotint as is common. A very nice early portrait of Hancock $1,350
