LA NOVIA by the South American artist Jorge Dumas, is an original hand drawn lithograph hand proofed and printed using traditional lithography techniques on archival printmaking paper, 100% acid free. LA NOVIA exemplifies Dumas' expressive approach using a variety of textures and sculptural forms to achieve an outstanding rendition of a cubist style portrait. LA NOVIA is an eye-catching bride portrait portraying a contemplative brown haired woman dressed in white, holding a delicate bouquet of flowers. LA NOVIA captures the viewer's attention with its dramatic graphic black outlined drawing, bold color and textures printed in shades of subdued turquoise, green, deep burgundy red, tan, brown, black and white. Print size -29.5 x 20.5 inches, unframed, excellent condition, vivid colors, full bleed image, unsigned Printer's Proof aside from edition of 300 Year published - 1976 Edition size - 300 plus proofs Printer - Atelier Dumas, NYC Dumas (b.1928-1985) -studied drawing and painting at "Taller Torres Garcia" and first exhibited his drawings in 1946 with the Hungarian sculptor Anthony Khun, Sao Paolo, Brazil. In the forties and fifties, he traveled widely in South America, working as a set designer, newspaper illustrator, and teaching drawing. In the early sixties he traveled and exhibited in the United States, collaborating on a mural at the Pan American Union building in Washington, D.C. Throughout the seventies and eighties his reputation earned him individual exhibitions across the North and South America.
