Born in Cape Town in 1968, she graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art in 1990 and later moved to London in 1998 for a residency at Gasworks Gallery. Brice's work is characterized by her use of vibrant cobalt blue hues and her focus on female subjects, often depicted in intimate, everyday settings. By reimagining the female nude, she reclaims it from the male gaze, presenting women as empowered individuals rather than passive objects. Her paintings frequently explore transitional spaces—such as doorways and thresholds—symbolizing states of liminality and transformation. Brice's art has been exhibited internationally, including notable shows at Tate Britain and Stephen Friedman Gallery, and is held in esteemed collections like the Tate and the South African High Commission.
