Solo Press. From The Ten Commandments Kenny Scharf; Joseph Nechvatal; Gretchen Bender; April Gornik; Robert Kushner; Nancy Spero; Vito Acconci; Jane Dickson; Judy Rifka; Richard Bosman and Lisa Liebmann. Jane Dickson has been exhibiting her oil stick painting, watercolor drawing, and prints in museums and galleries domestically and internationally for two decades. She frequently works with unusual surfaces such as Astroturf, sandpaper, vinyl, or carpet to exploit the implicit references and the textural possibilities these materials offer. She was part of an eclectic East Village (Greenwich village) scene that included Keith Haring, John Crash Matos, Jenny Holzer, Jeff Koons, Kenny Scharf, David Wojnarowicz, Robert Crumb and Richard Hambleton. After moving to the city in 1977, Dickson worked as a programmer for the iconic Times Square billboard project and with collectives Fashion Moda (with Jenny Holzer) and Collaborative Projects Inc. As a participant in the iconic Colab DIY “Times Square Show” and “Real Estate Show” of 1980, her work was seen alongside artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Fab 5 Freddy, Kenny Scharf, and Kiki Smith. Dickson’s paintings explore subjects such as peep shows, carnivals, and demolition derbies with dark irony. Widely exhibited, Dickson’s work has been shown in the 1985 Whitney Biennial Solo exhibitions of her work have been shown at The Whitney Museum of American Art at Philip Morris, Creative Time, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2008 she completed a mosaic for MTA in the 42nd street station. In 2010 she was invited to paint a leather jacket for the Andy Warhol Museum. In the early eighties, Warhol collected leather jackets, including one painted with his portrait and that of Jean-Michel Basquiat by the new wave artist Stefano Castronovo. Artists commissioned for this project include Castronovo, Rita Ackermann, Frederick “Fab Five Freddy” Brathwaite, Dan Colen, Ronnie Cutrone, Jane Dickson, Duncan Hannah, Lee Quinones, Tom Sachs, Kenny Scharf, Walter Steding and Ouattara Watts. GOING TO CHURCH Signed Lithograph, Southern Landscape, African American Heritage
Located in Union City, NJ
GOING TO CHURCH was the very first limited edition print created by the self-taught African American artist William Tolliver (b.1951-2000) in 1987. GOING TO CHURCH is an original hand drawn lithograph (not a photo reproduction or digital print) printed on archival printmaking paper 100% acid free, using hand lithography techniques. William Tolliver 's recognizable artistic style freely combines the colors of Chagall with the solid compositional principles of Cezanne and the mood and forms reminiscent of Modigliani and Picasso. GOING TO CHURCH depicts a Southern Landscape with a group of black country folk - three females clothed in long dresses, and two youths wearing blue jeans, all walking on their way to religious services. The black textured drawing background defines the composition's frame and outlines the rural landscape, trees, and sky with the procession of human figures in the foreground; a rainbow of multicolors creating a vibrant, almost stained-glass visual effect . GOING TO CHURCH is an impressive large horizontal landscape...

Richard Linder "Red Head" Lithograph Figurative Portrait
Located in Detroit, MI
“Red Head” is a portrait that puts dynamic and powerful to shame. This woman from the 1970s at the height of the Feminist movement is an Amazon. Though you cannot see her body her powerful and determined gaze is that of an individual who knows where she is going and what she wants. Best if you get out of her way. Nonetheless, the aura she creates is hypnotizing and the viewer must struggle to break the spell or be absorbed into her presence. This spell-binding piece of Linder’s is unique in its ability to exude a physical push and pull upon its audience. Richard Linder...

Located in Spokane, WA
Original American work incentive poster: ‘HE IS RISEN”. Artist: Willared Frederick Elmes. This isn't actually a war/propaganda poster per se, but it was produced by Mather & Co. Elmes was an artist similar to Mather in that they were both prolific with their morale + work incentive posters in the 1930s. Elmes also created other pieces done for the early railway posters. The poster with the stained-glass panel in the back and the ray of light shining in is the last Mather & Company poster printed (1930). All others were printed in 1929 and earlier. The very last in the Work Incentive Mather’s posters...
