AFTER THE BATH is an intimate interior scene featuring a female nude portrait of a realistically drawn young woman toweling off after her bath.
Very fine impression - has the feel of a graphite drawing.

Raphael Soyer, painter, lithographer, and teacher, was born on December 15, 1899, in Borisoglebsk, Tombov, Russia and is best known for his compassionate, naturalistic depictions of urban subjects. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, American Academy of Arts and Letters, American Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers, Artists Congress, and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. Soyer taught at the Art Students League in New York. Working in oil or lithography, he was an American Scene artist who championed realism and his work portrays the daily life of New Yorkers. Historically, Soyer is associated with the social realist artists of the 1930s, whose art championed the cause of social justice.
