About

This is the green version of Raul Caracoza’s iconic set of serigraphs entitled Young Frida. The pink version was used as the cover illustration for the McNay Art Museum exhibition: Estampas de la Raza. Signed, titled and numbered from the edition of 40. This one of 3 left in the edition. Raul has worked with master printer José Alpuche at Self Help Graphics & Art in Los Angeles, as well as with Richard Duardo at Modern Multiples. The late Rafael Mora helped get him connected with Self Help Graphics. Much of his inspiration is drawn from the Latino culture of his surroundings in LA. His recent works focus on Latino and musical icons generated from computer illustrations. Caracoza studied art at Montebello High School, graduating in 1998. He then attended East Los Angeles College, and Digital Business and Design College in El Monte, California, in 2002. His strong personal graphic style has become very recognizable in the local arts community. Besides his graphic designs, he is also an accomplished photographer who has photographed some of the biggest concerts in Los Angeles. This image of Frida Kahlo is his best-known image, about an iconic figure in the Chicano and Hispanic art world. Signed and numbered from the edition of 40.
