His strong personal graphic style has become very recognizable in the local arts community. Besides his graphic designs, he is also an accomplished photographer who has photographed some of the biggest concerts in Los Angeles. - Domingo SportivoBy Wayne HealyLocated in Palm Springs, CASigned, titled and numbered from the edition of 51. Image of a family in the park, mother cooking on the grill, and children playing soccer. Wayne Healy (born 1946) grew up in East Los Angeles, where political events in the 1960s stimulated his commitment to execute socially and culturally relevant public art. In the third grade, he collaborated on a dinosaur mural with David Botello. In 1975, the two ran into each other after many years, and Healy and Botello co-founded what became the mural team known as East Los Streetscapers. In 1992 Healy and artist Roberto Delgado were awarded a grant by the Joint Spanish/U.S. Committee for Educational and Cultural Cooperation to paint murals in Barcelona, Spain. They have created murals and public art works throughout the United States, Europe and Mexico with traveling exhibitions including "Le Demon des Anges", "2001: Hispanic Artists...Category

$600 Sale Price20% Off - Flores Para JaurezBy Oscar MagallanesLocated in Palm Springs, CASigned and numbered. Flores Para Juarez pays homage to the women in Juarez, Mexico. The female figure in the image is a friend of Magallanes who had witnessed a lot of abuse growing up in Juarez, and emerged from her experience a very strong woman. Magallanes’ piece is part of an ongoing series of portraits of personal heroes and martyrs that also serves as a mapping of the artist’s own psyche through his cultural, historical and political influences. Oscar Magallanes was born in 1976 in Duarte, CA. He recalls, “The first art I saw were murals of Zapata and Mexica glyphs from the Chicano movement. These were juxtaposed next to homeboy role calls and Old English writing. I didn’t see a gallery or museum until I was 15.” After a troubled youth and his expulsion from high school at the age of fifteen, Oscar was accepted into the Ryman Arts program which he credits with encouraging him to pursue a career in art. From 1998 to 2003 Oscar’s studio was located in the thriving Pomona Artist Colony. Oscar also worked closely with the late Gilbert “Magu” Lujan...Category
