Haddon Hall - theater poster, full lithograph

1910-1920

About the Item

Original poster: Haddon Hall. Original theater vintage poster, archival linen backed. Printed in the United Kingdom. Vintage theater poster for Haddon Hall from 1893. There is some foxing along the bottom edge. No paper loss. Haddon Hall is an English light opera with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by Sydney Grundy. It was popular with amateur theatre groups, particularly in Britain, through the 1920s, but it has been produced only sporadically since then. This beautiful operetta poster shows a woman holding a riding crop. Haddon Hall is an English light opera with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by Sydney Grundy. It premiered at the Savoy Theatre on September 24, 1892, and ran for 204 performances. Haddon Hall is a dramatization of an actual historical event (or a legend, depending on whom you believe): Dorothy Vernon's elopement in 1563 with John Manners, son of Thomas Manners, 1st Earl of Rutland.[1] Grundy moved the story forward to about 1660, adding the conflict between the Royalists and the Roundheads as a backdrop to the plot. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
