About the Item

Gelatin silver prints (made by by the artist in 2004), mounted on archival mat board, signed and stamped on the back. Picture of painted or wrapped objects, after Italian artist Giorgio Morandi (1890 - 1964) About the work and the artist: It is one of my ﬁrst photographic work that became a transition from my painting experience to photography. I painted or wrapped the objects with the photocopies of the engravings of Giorgio Morandi, an Italian painter I admire. The series became my exploration of the stages of the photographic craft. It gave me an opportunity to concentrate on the process and light. To make a portrait of the bottles, as if I photograph a family. To me subject matter is not as important as the process itself. I believe that a revelation can come from stubborn concentration on the same problem and constant contemplation of an object. I learnt this through Giorgio Morandi.
