Original Edition Lithograph on paper, mounted on canvas, 1997. Paper Size: 29 x 21 inches. Image and signature reproduced from the original signed silkscreen. Authorized and copyrighted by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and their representative, Artists Rights Society. Excellent Condition; never framed or matted. Notes: Andy Warhol created the original Chanel artworks for his iconic Ads Series in the 1985; however, it was not until 1997 that Chanel Ltd. decided to use it as a publicity device in their own ad campaigns. Chanel Ltd. printed four colour variations in various sizes for various applications. There was a large size used at Arrêt de bus along the Champs-Élysées. The size of the artwork in this listing was provided in Chanel Ltd. Boutiques to clients who bought CHANEL N°5. They also produced postcards with CHANEL N°5 samples attached.
ANDY WARHOL (1928-1987) amongst the most important and influential artists of the past quarter century, Andy Warhol is widely regarded as the master of Pop Art. As sonorous with Pop as Picasso is with Cubism, Warhol maintained a level of creativity which is legendary. Warhol adapted the commercial process of silk-screening to the world of fine art, creating masterpieces such as Marilyn Monroe, Ads and Myths, which became some of his most famous images. Throughout his life Warhol was regarded as the art-world's greatest celebrity.
