Georges Rohner was one of the great painters of the “Ecole de Paris” and of the second mid twenty century.

Georges Rohner was a French painter, born July 20, 1913 in Paris and died on 3 November 2000 in Lannion.
Georges Rohner was born in 1913 in Paris. His uncle George Stugocki, art teacher, gives him an early taste for art and thus develops his passion. In 1929 he left school to run in the "galleries" of the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he will be received. A year later, it will be admitted as a student in the workshop Lucien Simon alongside Robert Humblot, Jacques Henri and Despierre Jannot. Under the leadership of the critic Henri Herault, he joined Robert Humblot, Jannot, Lasne, Canadian Pellant Alfred Pierre Tal-Coat and Raymond Moisset to found the movement "New Forces" which advocates a return to the drawing, the return the conscientious job of tradition in a strong contact with nature.
In 1932, his desire for independence leads him to leave the Fine Arts and rent a workshop with Robert Humblot.
He traveled to Spain and the Netherlands, where he discovered the city of Amsterdam. During his military service in Guadeloupe, he decorated the town hall of Basse-Terre. In 1940, he was captured and interned in Trier. It decorates the chapel of Stalag he keep Christ to prisoners.
In 1959, he was appointed lecturer at the School of Fine Arts and decorated with the Legion of Honour. He continued his career as drawing and color professor at the National School of Decorative Arts Pazris in 1962. In 1963 he was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters. In 1968, Rohner was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts, where he held the chair of Ingres.
In 1987, a retrospective is organized at the Museum of Fine Arts in Quimper.
Georges Rohner died November 3, 2000 in Lannion.
Various artists, writers, and institutions paid tribute to his work and his talent through the publication of books, short films, acquisition of paintings and drawings. During his career, Rohner presented his work worldwide in hundreds of exhibitions organized by galleries, museums and trade fair as the Venice Biennale, the Independent Salon, the Paris gallery, the museum modern Art of the city of Paris, the Wildenstein & Co. gallery in New York, the museum of fine arts Orleans, the Espace Cardin in Paris, the Louvre museum. The Framond gallery exhibits his works in Paris in retrospectives and thematic.

Georges Rohner
Georges Rohner ( French, 1913-2000)was a Paris born painter and printmaker of international repute. Known stylistically as a realist, his creative endeavors often edged towrd surrealism. He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, France under the French painter and teacher, Lucien Simon (1861-1945). Rohner also had an active teaching career, first as a lecturer at the Ecole de Beau Arts, and then by 1962, as a professor at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs, both in Paris. In 1963 he was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters. Later that decade, Rohner was elected to the Academie des Beaux Arts, Paris where he held the chair of Ingres. The Museum of Fine Arts in Quimper, France held a retrospective of Rohner's oeurve in 1987. Rohner's work has been exhibited regularly throughout Europe and the United States, including the Venice Biennale, nd Wildenstein & Co. in New York.
