Bananas, Jonas Wood, 2021
By Jonas Wood
Located in Draper, UT
The vividly graphic print, Bananas, is the second installment in a series of plant identification prints by the artist. The prints are formatted to the proportions of a classic Polaroid picture, with each featuring a different plant removed from a distinct background and context, like a scientific extraction. Plants have long been a source of fascination for Wood and often appear in his work. This is the artist’s first print depicting the banana tree, which Wood has spent almost a decade exploring through drawings and paintings based on his personal archive of images. A visit to Hawaii further sparked his curiosity into the many different varieties. Jonas Wood (b. 1977, Boston) makes paintings, drawings, and prints in the genres of portraiture, still life, and landscape. His work reflects a personal approach to subject matter defined by his affinities and experiences. Conjuring depth using flat forms––his process involves collage-based studies in which he sometimes works with photographs to deconstruct and reassemble the images––Wood probes the boundaries between the new and the familiar, integrating emotionally resonant material from everyday life. Jonas Wood has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Dallas Museum of Art (2019); Museum Voorlinden, Wassenaar, Netherlands (with Shio Kusaka...

screenprint Signed and numbered in pencil by the artist edition of 50 Beautifully framed! provenance: The Nevica Project Jonas Wood (American, b. 1977) is a Los Angeles based-artist. His paintings are most notable for their reconsideration of the golden era of 20th century American painting, drawing fine comparisons to artists such as Edward Hopper. Linda Yablonsky from the New York Times Style Magazine has said that, “Wood has one foot in Modernist cool and the other in vibrant Pop Art.” He paints what is around him in daily life, from basketball players to living rooms, and tries to preserve the beauty he sees in these subjects and share it with the viewer. Jonas Wood was born in 1977 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 1999 from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, New York, and received his M.F.A. in 2002 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Banana (original drawing on paper)
By David Hockney
Located in Aventura, FL
Original colored crayons and pastel drawing on paper. Hand signed and dated on front by David Hockney. Artwork size 16.75 x 14inches. Frame size approx 27 x 24 inches. Provenance: Annely Juda Fine Art; Richard Gray Gallery. Artwork in excellent condition. All reasonable offers will be considered. About the Artist: David Hockney is one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. Perhaps best known for his serial paintings of swimming pools, portraits of friends, and verdant landscapes, the artist’s oeuvre ranges from collaged photography and opera posters to Cubist-inspired abstractions and plein-air paintings of the English countryside. Often returning to a certain motif again and again, he probes the manifold ways one can see an image or a space. Hockney’s exploration of photography’s effect on painting and everyday life is evinced in his hallmark work A Bigger Splash (1967). “In art, new ways of seeing mean new ways of feeling; you can't divorce the two, as, we are now aware, you cannot have time without space and space without time,” he has explained. Born on July 9, 1937 in Bradford, United Kingdom, Hockney attended the Royal College of Art in London alongside R.B. Kitaj. At school, he studied under both Francis Bacon and Peter Blake, but also credits Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse for influencing his distinctive and varied style. In 1963, the artist traveled to Southern California for the first time and fell in love with the bright sunshine and easygoing lifestyle. Since then, he has alternated living and working between Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and Los Angeles, CA. In November 2018, his 1972 painting...
