About the Item

Original poster Propaganda - Politics - USSR - Russia Back to 1943... France is occupied by Nazi Germany. The Nazi General Staff had great difficulty in supporting the war effort throughout Europe. Putting prisoners to work was no longer enough, more manpower was needed. The message of the poster is clear, the Nazis want to convince the French to participate in the fight against Bolshevism by freely accepting to work in German factories We can see that this poster uses all the codes of Nazi propaganda: - The drawing is figurative but stylized, very modern for the time. - The dominant color is red. It evokes the communist danger but also the blood that is mentioned in the text. - On the horizon, at the vanishing point of the perspective, yellow evokes the rising sun, light and freedom. - In the upper part, the face is both disturbing (hard, impassive, cold look) and reassuring (the German army is watching and protecting). Note also the eastward orientation of the gaze (USSR). - In the lower part, the characters go to work in two well-ordered lines that recall German discipline.

Original 1946 poster by Paul Colin - “Ils Meurent Pour Vous – Victoire” - WWII
By Paul Colin
Located in PARIS, FR
This powerful original 1946 poster by renowned French graphic artist Paul Colin (1892–1985) was created in the aftermath of World War II for the Organisme National d’Aide aux Combattants under the high presidency of General de Gaulle. Titled “Ils Meurent Pour Vous – Victoire” (They Die For You – Victory), the poster is both a commemoration and a call to solidarity. Rendered in Colin’s bold chiaroscuro style, it depicts a kneeling French soldier silhouetted against the dawn sky, his weapon poised towards the horizon. Behind him lie the faint outlines of fallen comrades, underscoring the poster’s solemn message of sacrifice. The simple yet emotionally charged typography conveys urgent patriotism and post-war gratitude. Paul Colin, one of the greatest poster designers of the Art Deco era, was celebrated for his theatre, cabaret, and political works. Here, his graphic precision and emotional clarity serve a national cause, urging public support for veterans who fought and died for liberation. A deeply evocative historical artefact, this poster resonates today as a reminder of France’s liberation struggle and the human cost of victory. It is ideal for collectors of WWII memorabilia...

1932 original bullfighting poster by Ruano Llopis - San Sebastian
By Carlos Ruano Llopis
Located in PARIS, FR
This stunning 1932 original bullfighting poster by the celebrated Spanish painter Carlos Ruano Llopis (1878–1950) was created for the summer season (Verano de 1932) at the new Plaza de Toros of San Sebastián. Known for his evocative, elegant depictions of Spanish cultural life, Ruano Llopis here captures the grandeur and festivity of the corrida. The composition foregrounds a poised woman in an orange dress with a traditional black embroidered shawl, seated serenely amid blooming roses as matadors prepare in the background. Her confident gaze draws the viewer into the scene, evoking the atmosphere of Spanish bullrings and the rituals surrounding them. The typography announces “Seis Grandes Corridas de Toros, de Abono”, listing star matadors of the time such as Vicente Barrera, José Mejías (Bienvenida), and Domingo Ortega. Ruano Llopis, a master of costumbrismo and bullfighting art, created numerous posters that became icons of Spanish visual culture. His rich painterly style blends realism and theatricality, immortalising flamenco dancers, toreros, and spectators with expressive brushwork and luminous colour. This large-format poster remains an evocative testament to Spain’s golden age of tauromachia and to Ruano Llopis’s artistry. It is ideal for collectors of vintage Spanish posters...
