About the Item
In this image from the ‘They Cheer’ series of WWII posters, we see an American Air Force pilot buried under a brick tarmac after forgetting to lower his landing gear. Axis leaders Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo look along with glee at the pilot's error. The ‘They Cheer’ series of posters was created during WWII by the U.S. Directorate of Air Traffic and Safety and Directorate of Safety Education. The focus in these images is on pilot safety, during a time when no man’s health could be wasted on anything but the war effort. Throughout the series, caricatures of Axis leaders Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, and Hideki Tojo cheer along when the pilot injures themself. There were originally 16 pieces in the set.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster was printed on heavyweight paper and is in excellent condition apart from slight toning at folds. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
