This is an original 1967 Soviet propaganda poster by V. Karakashev, a powerful example of Cold War-era graphic art and geopolitical messaging. Created during a period of heightened tension between East and West, the poster issues a stark visual warning—“People of the World, Be Vigilant!”—with unmistakable symbolism that critiques Western militarism and American influence in postwar Europe.
Set against a deep, ominous burgundy backdrop, the poster depicts a bomb descending, its body stamped with “MADE IN USA” and topped with a stylized helmet bearing the insignia of the Bundeswehr—West Germany’s military forces. The helmet is adorned with the German federal eagle, but the Cyrillic writing reinforces the poster’s Soviet origin and its political intent: a condemnation of re-militarization in the West, especially that of NATO-aligned states.
Bold white Cyrillic type commands the viewer's attention, its urgency reflecting both a message of caution and a call to global solidarity against perceived Western aggression.
