About the Item

Zeal Harris is known for creating seductive, caricaturesque, political, urban-vernacular, story paintings, with a blunt mix of high-brow/low-brow elements. Her micro-narratives offer socio-political commentary about a range of larger issues that often have to do with the layered experiences of race, class, gender, and sexuality. Almost always, the work is based on contemporary real life stories or events in daily life. She is a Los Angeles based visual artist who graduated from UCLA School of Film & Television and later with a MFA in Studio Art from Otis College of Art & Design. She has been in recent exhibitions at the Port Au Prince Haiti Ghetto Biennale, the California African-American Museum, and the Caribbean Cultural Center of the African Diaspora in New York. "Make it Happen" mixed media magazine collage
By Amy Smith
Located in West Hollywood, CA
Amy Smith is a self-educated contemporary artist. Born in New Jersey, she moved to Los Angeles where she found inspiration, mentors, and support in the Street Art community. In her Collage Portrait Series, Amy Smith uses photography, and layers of hand cut stencils, and torn recycled fashion magazine pieces to simultaneously represent her love of fashion and her contempt for excessive consumerism. In addition, she showcases female portraits to empower and unify, creating a space to feel connected to oneself and to each other. Smith’s mixed media collages have been shown at Wallspace, Saatchi’s The Other Art Fair, La Art Fair to name a few and been part of auctions such as revered Julien’s Auctions...

She Had a Plan
By James Henderson
Located in New Orleans, LA
Based in New Orleans, James Henderson’s work explores the concept of memory and the idea of ‘home’ as an emotional space, rather than a physical one. Utilizing found imagery and text as a starting point, Henderson collages and layers his mixed media paintings to create a rich background onto which he often adds the silhouette of a figure, an icon of a house, or colorful drawings of children or shapes. The inclusion of imagery from vintage dress patterns...
