Susan Hable is inspired by the work of David Hockney, Milton Avery, Henri Matisse, Alex Katz, Howard Hodgkins, Hilma af Klint, Georgia O'Keeffe, Barbara Hepworth and Constantin Brâncuși. With humor and a bit of mischief, Susan Hable’s “Don't Pick The Flowers!” is a body of work that is at once a refuge and a playground. Inspired by her sumptuous garden just outside of her Athens studio, Susan flows from one medium to the next from painting to collage to sculpture. Susan sees her garden as a place for adventure and daydreaming, challenging her perceptions of what her Art can be. Even a weedy ground cover has caught Susan’s eye, an overlooked invasive is seen in a new light becoming a dreamlike fairytale path. Her work asks us to engage in life, go for a walk and play. Artist Commentary: Event 02.2000.015 is a one of an ongoing series of sculptures exploring my envisioning cosmic events and their existence in spacetime. This piece is also an exploration of combining different materials into sculpture. Keywords: abstract, welded metal, Artist Biography: Fred Klingelhofer, a primarily self-taught artist, grew up in a Chicago south side neighborhood. He received a BS degree in physics from Roosevelt University and worked as an engineer for 30 years. During those years he enrolled in art workshops and classes at a nearby community college completing courses in figure drawing, 2D and 3D design, ceramics, sculpting the figure, welding and metal sculpture. His focus has been on creating sculpture since 2006. Fred has exhibited his sculpture in a number of group exhibitions with Chicago Sculpture International, Art Prize (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Sculpture in the Park (St Charles, Illinois), Sculpture Walk Sioux Falls...
