About the Item

Volatility Screen Acrylic and oil on walnut veneered plywood in 4 parts, with aluminum and steel fittings. 4 panels each 16.25 x 72", overall 65 x 72" 2019 This substantial work by contemporary artist Charles Lutz, is as functional as it is beautiful. Using the imagery from his Volatility Series, a body of work which explores the volatility of various markets through the luxurious materials and bold angles of the Art Deco period, applied to a functional screen/ room divider in the tradition of Warhol and other artists before. The screen has single top to bottom stainless steel hinges which connect each panel seamlessly, allowing you to adjust the angles of the screen to your preference. The imagery on both sides speak to the fluctuation of value in an ever-changing world, but the colors and designs, including oiled natural wood grain and painted representation of eggshell lacquer, create two strikingly different moods.
