Chloe Hedden
Indigo 1 (dark indigo blue thick textile linen fold monochrome design)

2023

About the Item

In Indigo 1, Chloe Hedden invites us into a meditative field of texture, movement, and hue. Part of her Fold series, this work uses hand-dyed linen in deep, inky indigo tones that ripple across the surface like currents beneath calm waters. The fabric billows and twists in a gestural, almost spontaneous motion, capturing a sense of suspended energy. The interplay between light and shadow within the folds creates a sculptural depth that transcends the two-dimensional plane. Hedden’s choice of indigo—historically a color of spiritual significance and artisanal labor—infuses the piece with quiet power. The composition is at once grounded and fluid, serene and alive. By allowing the fabric to retain its raw creases and natural flow, Indigo 1 embodies themes of surrender, presence, and material poetry. It is a tactile meditation on the elegance of simplicity and the emotional resonance of color. Comes signed and ready to hang. About artist: Born in Utah (USA), Chloe Hedden looks for the unseen patterns and hidden narratives that reveal the magnificence in all things. According to the artist, there is a still point in every moment and to capture this essential luminescence is what she aims for in her practice. Chloe makes use of archetypes from the cultural and mystical history to inform her work. It is through this inspiration that she created her latest body of work comprised of intricately folded Burlap wall sculptures. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, Chloe's paintings and sculptures can be found in numerous public and private collections.
