About the Item
This contemporary abstract outdoor sculpture is forged from Corten steel.
Claude Millette often draws inspiration for his modern sculptures from the graceful movement of dancers. This series of gently curved steel beams appears to interpret the natural fluid form of a dancer in motion. Each beam is set at a different angle —each one appears to lean on the other. The sculpture is forged from corten steel and mounted on a rectangular ‘stage-like’ base. The appealing rust-coloured patina of this material will continue to weather as it ages. The name of the sculpture suggests the act of ‘divergent thinking’ that compels the artist to pursue creativity, embrace imagination and defy convention.

Claude Millette was born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. He studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with revered sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been commissioned for many public art projects and have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, the U.S., Europe and Mexico.

Claude Millette
Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Millette studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions and are in the collections of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée d’art de Joliette, and the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec and the Ville de Matour, Bourgogne, France.
