Danette Landry
Danette Landry was a longtime resident of California before moving to Paris to pursue studies in cultural anthropology. After receiving a Master’s degree and completing her thesis at the Ecole des Hautes Études Sociales in Paris, Landry decided to devote herself to a life of art. This turning point manifested as a profound and splintering journey, reigniting a creative process that was instilled at a young age by her mother, a self-taught painter. Landry calls for a constant reconstruction and materialization of one’s self. This force is represented in her bronze monoliths. Landry identifies each monolith with gender and individually they carry a variety of wounds analogous to those found in humanity. Landry's patinated bronze sculptures exude a driving force to survive anything she expresses, representing her will to resist and reconstruct life’s trials and hardship.

- Horizonte Grito Sordo - Three Figural Contemporary Bronze and Steel SculpturesBy Jesus Curia PerezLocated in Chicago, ILJesús Curiá's sculpture of three powerful figures is a powerful contemporary take on the traditional Japanese sculpture depicting three monkeys covering their eyes, ears and mouth: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. They are used to represent a moral code of conduct to not dwell on evil thoughts and actions. The roots of this maxim run deep into Chinese and Japanese culture and can be traced back to Confucius. Though familiar, this sculpture takes that message and flips it as a call to action...Category
