Delphine Grandvaux"VIBRE", Abstract Airy 3d Sound-Wave Hand-Woven Smooth Metal Pendant Sculpture
About the Item
Titled "VIBRE," this airy metallic sculpture was entirely hand-woven by artist Delphine Grandvaux using black lacquered iron wire. Driven by her desire to bridge the realms of music and sculpture, the artist seeks to embody sound within material form. The creation of this work was inspired by the soundwave of the word "VIBRE" By recording the pronounced voice, Grandvaux captured a visual representation of the soundwaves, which she skillfully transformed into a tangible piece through her meticulous metal wire weaving technique. The succession of its varying volumes marks the rhythm, with each loop becoming a note. The artist also played with different loop sizes to give the volumes a more or less opaque aspect, enhancing the nuances of the sculpture.
For installation, this piece is to be suspended from the ceiling.
Delphine Grandvaux is a French sculptor. Motivated by her passion for creating light and airy artworks, she has developed a unique artistic approach rooted in a metal wire mesh technique akin to that of Ruth Asawa. In Grandvaux’s woven works, metallic threads, sometimes combined with lighter materials like wood, wool, and more, are tamed through her masterful technique and uninhibited imagination. Under her hands, they transform into voluminous, organic, and dynamic forms, delicate and refined, with fluid movements both within and beyond the artwork itself. By playing with light and shadow, the transparent or semi-transparent forms she creates evoke a sense of poetry, delicacy, and elegance.
