Eelco Hilgersom was born in 1979 in Amsterdam. Since he was a child he has been fascinated by architecture and the structures created by nature. This fascination has led him to create abstract works based on these natural forms and organisms. In all of them Eelco looks for contrasts of form, colour or material. "My aim is to excite the viewer through the contrasts and complexity of the work. To achieve this goal he uses different techniques and materials. He constantly seeks the challenge of working with new materials. This requires learning the material by heart and discovering the possibilities of the material he wants to work with. What matters is the end result. Each concept he wants to develop requires a different approach, which is why he works with different materials. "As I don't impose myself, I don't impose guidelines or frameworks on myself, I can give free rein to my ideas.
