About the Item

Ceramic sculpture in glazed stoneware Unique piece Certificate : seal and signature by Jean-Claude Canonne and on the original certificate This sculpture is a very long time of work of preparing, both for the design and creation of the shape but especially for the composition of the enamels, because all of these enamels composition is fired in only one shot. It's a very hard work to success these kind of work. Jean-Claude Canonne is otherwise recognised by the ceramics profession for his exceptional mastery of glazes. This 29.2 inch sculpture with a majestic verticality. Inspired by a powerful mineral landscape, evokes a massif sculpted by the elements, where winds rush in and trees cling to the rocky flanks. The surface is composed of multiple layers of enamels - iron red, celadon, shino, and copper red enriched with cobalt and titanium - applied with a variety of techniques (sgraffito, brush, fingers, etc.), creating textures that recall both the roughness of the rocks and the luxuriant vegetation that takes root there. Golden touches, the fruit of alchemical enameling, add luminous accents, recalling the sun's rays filtering through the mists. About The mountains trilogy of Jean-Claude Canonne : These glazed stoneware sculptures, fired in a reducing atmosphere at 1300°C, embody Jean-Claude Canonne's vision of recreating the genesis of mountains in all their power and beauty. Through inspired enameling and modeling, he reinvents the processes of mineral and geological formation, like an echo of the telluric forces and volcanic eruptions that shape the relief. These three sculptures, united by their inspiration but distinct in their expression, bear witness to Jean-Claude Canonne's technical mastery and artistic vision, offering a poetic and powerful exploration of the mineral world.

Monumental Covered Jar #1
By Mariko Brown Harkin
Located in Kansas City, MO
Materials : Terracotta, white gold luster Date : 2016 Dimensions : 16 x 8.5 x 8.5 inches Description : wheel thrown and altered terracotta, cone 04 oxidation, glazes and luster COA provided Mariko Brown Harkin about her work: "My fascination with pottery comes from my desire to make art and to produce something that is not only functional but visually appealing. Porcelain allows me stretch and shape the clay in any way I choose and offers a blank canvas for my floral imagery and luscious, rich glazes to blend. The forms I create are tight and precise with a sense of restricted volume. I use bands around the form to constrict specific areas of each piece, while at the same time creating space for the volume and fullness to escape. The bands create registers to frame my drawings and paintings of floral imagery. The way I combine surface and form is inspired by Ming Dynasty porcelain...
