About the Item
With its fluid and elegant lines, this abstract stone sculpture by Jeremy Guy appears to resemble a figure eight. Guy is known for his powerful contemporary form that often emulates shapes found in nature. Created from engineered black granite, this piece’s voluptuous curves are enhanced by the natural variations in the stone. Its velvety smooth finish is polished to a glossy sheen. This is one of a series, engraved with the artist's signature, and edition number.

Guy was born and raised in a small town in West Yorkshire, England. A fine art major, in 2001 he graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an Honours BA in Product Design. His sculptures are collected across three continents in both public and private spaces.

Jeremy Guy
Jeremy Guy grew up in England where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone and engineered stone sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections worldwide including Queen Ethelburga's College Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire, UK, Orchard Residences in Singapore, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore and more. "In my own abstract work I am acutely aware that nature champions great design. From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck. My work conveys a sense of balance and peace as I strive to seek a seemingly impossible equilibrium between the simple elegance and dynamic complexity of the world in which we live." Jeremy Guy
