About the Item
Smooth surfaced, black granite flecked almost imperceptibly with copper and white has been engineered into an elegant ribbon in tangible contrast to its weight. This work has a steel substructure and sits on an aluminum base. The work is aptly titled Zephyr, or gentle breeze, a word derived from the ancient Greek zephuros, the name for the God of the West Wind. As such this sculpture echoes the graceful, bent form into which some northern Canadian pines will grow if exposed to the persistent west wind.
This sculpture is in an Edition 5/50. This piece is a commission, please allow 4 weeks for creation and then time for delivery.
Jeremy Guy was born in 1966 in a small town in West Yorkshire, England. Natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. He has lived in Canada since 2007.
Educated in Fine Art and holding an honours degree in Product Design, Jeremy has been a full-time sculptor for approximately 20 years. His works can be found in public spaces and private collections in many countries across three continents.
The natural environment and especially time spent on, or near, water have had a significant influence on Guy's work. "In my own abstract work I am acutely aware that nature champions great design. From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck. My work conveys a sense of balance and peace as I strive to seek a seemingly impossible equilibrium between the simple elegance and dynamic complexity of the world in which we live."

Jeremy Guy
Jeremy Guy grew up in England where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone and engineered stone sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections worldwide including Queen Ethelburga's College Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire, UK, Orchard Residences in Singapore, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore and more. "In my own abstract work I am acutely aware that nature champions great design. From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck.
