About the Item

Artist Commentary: Steel, powder coated. Keywords: abstract, illusion, white, steel, metal, swirl, circle Artist Biography: After earning a Master's degree in teaching and working in the classroom for several years, Jessie began teaching at a Trade school. There she picked up on welding. Learning from others, researching and a lot of practice, she began to create. After welding scrap pieces for practice, she started to see art in the finished product. This lead her to thinking about what could be. Now she designs, shapes and welds steel into beautiful often flowing sculptures. Influenced by artists on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, N.M. and locally, the late Brother Mel Meyers of St. Louis, MO. she grew ideas and made them into sculpture. After mainly thinking logically her first 40 years, she turned to using the more abstract part of her mind. This has opened up her world. She recently has had three-eight foot installations in the St. Louis region, has made several five/six foot sculptures and many smaller size sculptures along with wall pieces, to go into businesses, homes and gardens.

All That Remains, Abstract Sculpture (Ceramic and Steel), 2020
By Fred Klingelhofer
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary: I constructed this piece from the setters I used to fire the ceramic pieces of another sculpture along with some of the glaze test tiles. When I saw these "scraps" sitting together there was a visual harmony that suggested a new use for them.
