Leon Smith
Leon Smith was born in Australia, it was Smith's first career as a dentist that taught him to make carvings and moldings. His sense of humor and that of his wife, Elaine, are at the epicenter of Smith's playful designs and titles. Riffing on simple, abstract shapes gives him the freedom to discover new forms and ideas. The opposing qualities of form are what engages him the most. Balance versus precariousness, stability versus movement, and the organic versus the inorganic. He's partial to the double-take, the paradox, but only if the work's formal qualities can sustain interest and delight over a long period. Smith's childlike energy knows no bounds, producing work that is at once amusing and sophisticated.

- Conscience Lurked: Abstract Oxidized Brass Wall SculptureBy Joe WheatonLocated in Hudson, NYJoe Wheaton Conscience Lurked, 2019 58" x 11" x 4" oxidized brass Joe Wheaton’s unique sculptural designs welded from dark, oxidized brass or brilliant silver steel showcase a contradictory set of relationships; “beautiful yet menacing, “threatening yet delicate” as described by the artist. Wheaton builds his metal compositions using a language of strokes and patterns. Geometric spears, disks and quadrangles alternate with wispy, sharp edged lines that trail off quietly to an undefined point. This visual sweep can be likened to the art of calligraphy, echoing the artist’s interest in early Asian arts and ceramics, as well as printmaking. This exhibit will include several of Wheaton’s large and small wall...Category

- Abstract Modern Sculpture " Stronghold "Outdoor Recycled Wood Aluminium SilverBy David MarshallLocated in Benahavis, ESThe modern Sculpture " Stronghold ” is a unique metal piece made from a burnout mold by David Marshall in 2021, sand cast in aluminium and wood in our foundry, handcrafted by the Artist in his workshop is Spain. His signature certifies its authenticity. With more than 50 Years since his first exhibition in Spain, David Marshall has shown his highly individual work throughout Europe and United States. “ After all this years since my first show I am still fascinated by working in 3 dimensions – maybe because I cant draw or more likely because sculpture holds some obtuse subconscious obligation. It is still addictive and highly satisfying despite the onus of molding, casting, welding, polishing, fitting in a tough work environment before the final satisfaction of seeing the piece come together as envisaged. Living in the mountains provides the creative impetus, being surrounded by rocks, rivers, the detritus of erosion, geomorphology and all natures destructive force has inspired an eclectic, very personal and organic bias to my work – an appreciation of random forms, diverse textures and all the unexpected creativity of the natural world where no line is perfect.” Metal and Wood Sculpture, Abstract, Silver, Outdoor, Indoor, Modern, Contemporary, Recycled WoodCategory
