About the Item
See No Evil is a ceramic vase painted in underglaze. Flora Vesterberg Ogilvy, the art historian, philanthropist and granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, had just moved to London and came to pose at Rafaela´s home. She is depicted on either side of the vase, a young woman from the sleepy Scottish countryside, curious and excited to discover the capital city.
This amphora, with its handsy tendrils cupping the sculpture’s neck and enclosing the radical pastel babe covering her eyes, is an exploration of vulnerability, manipulation and defiance.
