Renee Brown
Rose Wulfenite with Cerussite, Botryoidal Gold with Azurite

2015

About the Item

Renée Brown’s Rose Wulfenite with Cerussite is an intimately scaled sculpture reminiscent of a budding blossom. Layers upon layers of surface detail suggest the passing of time as the formation matures. This naturalistic assemblage is rich in texture and fine details. About the artist; Born in 1973, Renee Brown’s work is crafted from a personal vernacular of beauty. Historically, ‘Mineralia’ is defined as the taxonomic category for all non-life; that which is not life is a mineral. Brown’s portraits challenge this definition. The work introduces viewers to a new perception of earth’s treasures and allows for an investigation of a mineral’s essence through the lens of contemporary art. Forms perceived in nature to be inert emerge with persona; bypassing what is rationally found in nature. This blurred line between reality and created reality is intriguing to her. Brown holds an MFA in Ceramics and a BFA in Interior Design. She maintains an independent studio in the Historic Brunswick Building downtown Missoula, Montana.

Swingin Hammer (blown glass nail tool table top found object sculpture Chihuly)
By Robert Burch
Located in Quebec, Quebec
A piece capturing the movement we all know from working with hammers. This piece is created with found objects and blown glass to capture this moment in time. The hammers and nails vary from piece to piece but the movement is always the same. Robert Burch began working with glass in Atlanta, Georgia while still in high school. After graduating, he worked for the Japanese glassblower, Tadashi Torii for two years. Shortly after, he attended Pilchuck Glass School before deciding to make the jump to the mecca of glass working, Seattle, Washington. It was there that Burch had the honor of working with the renown American glass artist, Martin Blank. In the span of five years, Burch learned many aspects of glass artistry as he worked for Blank. Subsequently, the team collaborated on color design teams for the glass empire company Chihuly Inc. During all these glass adventures, he never stopped shooting photos...

Collection of 8 Stones
By Sam McPherson
Located in Kansas City, MO
Artist : Sam McPherson Title : Collection of 8 stones, wall installation Materials : Ceramic, porcelain on nail Date : 2019 Dimensions : 18"x 36"x 5" in. Description : Wall stones are designed to hang in multiple positions and can easily be rearranged or altered. The back of each stone as designs cut into it like the picture shown. The design on the back double as nail holes, so you can alter the position of the stone by selecting which space to hang on the nail. *** Designs will not always match the one shown, but are similar in concept. This arrangement includes 5 black porcelain stones, and 3 marbled stones. To discover the unseen hidden beneath or within an object inspires Sam McPherson to share her imagination and fascination of ‘what could be’. McPherson tries to use these ideas in her work to create something that requires the viewer to invest in the piece to see what it has to offer, to reward curiosity, and to those unwilling to stop and look closely to explore and discover, they may never know. Abstract, abstract art, contemporary art, ceramcs, porcelain, contemporary ceramics, mixed media, fibers, fiber arts, contemporary fine art, ceramic artists, sculptural ceramics, hand-build porcelain, crocheted, Betty Woodman, Toshiko Takaezu, Richard T.
