This glazed porcelain vessel by Jon Puzzuoli features a warm earth-toned palette with a crystalline glaze which creates the aesthetic of light blue "crystals" over the surface of the piece. It has a wide, curved, dark umber-toned neck. The artist's stamp is located at the base of the vessel. Crystalline glazes are special ceramic glazes in which zinc-silicate crystals grow inside the glaze while it is still very hot. The crystals begin as microscopic seeds in the glaze, which form in random numbers and locations. When the kiln is cooled to the proper temperature, crystals start to grow.
