Resin Abstract Circle Sculpture: 'Circle'
By Kelly Bugden + Van Wifvat
Located in New York, NY
The artistic collaboration of Kelly Bugden + Van Wifvat has produced a thought-provoking body of sculptures, paintings, and constructions. Nature, childhood memories, and everyday archetypes take shape in unexpected combinations of materials. The works emerged as the tactile and visual senses channeled the ritualistic power and materiality of selected artifacts. The resulting objects exist in a space between what they were originally and what they could become. A wheel, for example, is distorted as if seen through a prism. Their collaboration grew out of years of shaping materials into one-of-a-kind objects. Intuitively, the process of creating with their hands took an inward turn. Prism is a travelogue through memories and dreams, yielding abstract forms that capture moments of transformation. Van Wifvat grew up with eight siblings and studied sculpture and environmental design in Minneapolis at MCAD. In 1979, he opened a storefront art gallery to promote the work of local artists. The space featured printed materials—art books, periodicals, fanzines, and postcard’s. Wifvat moved to New York in 1983 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons. In 1987, he co-founded Van Gregory & Norton design studio, specializing in convex mirrors and curtain hardware...

Garden Tondo, US
By Mindy Horn
Located in New York, NY
Mindy Horn’s ceramic “Garden Tondo” revisits elements most often seen in her vessels, which are notable for their imperfections, appearing to have grown and then weathered organically. With her most recent ceramic wall medallion, a multitude of individual floral specimens converge into an unexpected baroque composition. Each tiny, hand-formed component’s individuality is lost within the larger picture. Incorporating subtle variations in the treatment of the delicate porcelain pieces, such as glazing, bisque firing, the application of powdery mason stain, or firing with a gold luster overglaze, creates a complex, glimmering landscape across the surface. Similarly, the lifting of each tiny composition off of the solid...

Circle 11 - Dichromatic Glass Sculptural Artwork
By Chris Wood
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Chris Wood’s "Circle 11" is a dichroic glass light sculpture that captivates with its dynamic interplay of reflection and refraction. This contemporary geometric artwork features an intricate spiral of iridescent glass pieces, which shift in hue depending on the light and viewing angle. The piece harnesses natural and artificial light to create an evolving spectrum of colors, making it ideal for collectors of optical art, kinetic sculpture, and modern light installations. The rhythmic arrangement of elements invites viewers into a meditative experience, blending minimalism with an ethereal sense of movement. Wood uses a range of high and low-tech optical materials to harness patterns of light that suggest ephemeral glimpses of moments in the natural world. Her minimalist sculptures are simple arrangements creating kinetic patterns in response to the environments in which they are placed. The artist often uses a material called dichroic (meaning “two color”) glass, which was developed by NASA in the 1950's. Dichroic glass has a special optical coating meant to reflect certain wavelengths of light while letting others through, creating beautiful projections of light and color depending on the environment in which the artwork is placed. This 20 inch square sculptural artwork...
