About the Item
Poutre (Beam) is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Romain Langlois. In this kind of "trompe l'oeil" work, the artist takes a very mundane object (a beam, the kind of which can be found on construction sites) and transforms it into bronze, slightly changing its shape in the process so as to capture our attention and make us wonder what we truly see. With finesse, imposing nothing, Romain Langlois has us questioning our interaction with the environment and the world that surrounds us.
The wood-like textures of his sculptures are obtained in the casting process and the colors through different patinas.
