We are excited to have this newly completed 2020 metal illusion sculpture with an amazing see-through effect.
Sanseviero's metal sculptures fool the eye. His "illusion sculptures" are only 1/16th of an inch thick and yet they appear to be 3 dimensional boxes with open centers that are stacked on top of each other. He has now added to this just completed sculpture a remarkable effect that gives the work a transparent see-through appearance in some areas even though the sculpture is all metal. He has figured out a way to use linear edges on certain parts of the sculpture to create this special look. I have included different views of the sculpture so that you can see this effect.
He first designs how the formation of "Boxes" will layout and then hand cuts the shape he has just designed. He then welds the flat sculpture he has created to the metal base. He then paints his sculpture with a trompe l'oeil or Fool the Eye effect so that the flat sculpture has volume and depth, he then paints the reverse side in the same manner so that the sculpture can be displayed facing either direction or in front of a mirror. This Sculpture "4 White and Gray Boxes" measures 28.5" H x 17" W and is incredibly only 1/16 thick. The base measures 8" x 12". It is signed on the base and numbered 1 of 2. It is a unique one of a kind sculpture, It is numbered 1 of 2 because there were only 2 sculptures with this box configuration at this size, but they are all unique because Sanseviero paints each sculpture to create the illusion effect. I have also included images of the sculpture in different settings so you can see the see-through look. I have also included photos from our gallery so you can see the size and scale of sculpture. We are pleased to have this brand new sculpture with this newly created see-through effect.
