Scott Troxel
Scott Troxel is an American abstract artist born in 1971 who lives and works in Marmora, New Jersey. From an early age, he became obsessed with modern art, color, and design. He is a painter, sculptor, and wall sculptor. Recently, the majority of his work has been in the form of wood mixed media wall sculpture because of his three-dimensional medium process. Troxel is always exploring materials and processes. Sometimes he uses repurposed and found materials and other times he purchases materials new.
Troxel predominantly works with wood as his base medium, due to its strength, dimension, and organic nature. The inherent texture of wood combined with paint and other man-made materials allows him to explore the concepts of old and young, worn versus new, organic versus man-made, and the past versus the present and future.
Troxel looks to capture a sense of time in his work and often combines the feeling of different eras within a single piece. He sees this as a direct parallel with human life, as we too grow older and interact with other generations, both younger and older. He is also particularly interested in items that were considered technologically or aesthetically advanced, only to be passed on by the consistency and tenacity of time — for example, an airplane boneyard where cutting-edge fighter jets from the 1960s sit in forgotten decay. These structures are still beautiful to look at from a design standpoint, even though they are no longer modern in the sense that time and technology have passed them by.
Troxel is particularly inspired by mid-century modernism, where wood and organic shapes were combined with other materials to suggest a type of futurism, though now they are considered vintage. Time has passed on but these pieces remain in the context of when they were designed. Troxel wants his works to feel this way, somewhat nostalgic, aged, and organic with the feeling that it could also be from a future time.
Troxel’s artworks belong to a number of corporate and hospitality collections, including the Shard Building, London; Westin Hotels; Wyndham Hotels; Embassy Suites Hotels and more.

- American Contemporary Sculpture by Scott Troxel - UltraMarineBy Scott TroxelLocated in Paris, IDFArtwork made with birch, acrylic, satin lacquer & metallic gold venetian plaster UltraMarine is a mixed media wall sculpture. Made from acrylic washes on birch, MDF and gold metallic Venetian plaster paint. Finished with an elegant satin clear lacquer to enhance the wood grain. The multiple opacities of navy and indigo are almost denim-like in color and allow the brown wood grain to add texture and interest to the piece. Ultramarine takes on the abstract form of a soaring building or perhaps a church spire or other tall building in form. Ultramarine is a monochromatic piece which is minimalistic in nature, so the form, composition and the balance of the piece trump a definitive subject matter. However, the shape is reminesent of mid-century modernism, the sputnik design movement and futurism. The result is an elegant wall sculpture...Category

$424,500 Sale Price / set34% Off - Modernist Dean Johnson Metal SculptureLocated in Wallkill, NYDean Johnson is a third generation artist who began painting at the age of seven by his father’s side. Johnson established his reputation in New York at the age of eighteen with his own unique style and while still only 22 was featured in a one-man art show at the famed Stricoff Gallery in SOHO. “Mozart and everyday life are my inspirations. I immerse myself daily in painting and sculpting, so that my life and work become one. Subtle and extraordinary colors are combined on various mediums creating a three-dimensional unique and individual work of art.” In reviewing his work, Art Speak Magazine commented; “Johnson’s three dimensional multi medium sculptures are original works of art. His textural and conceptual elements are his own. The prolific painter starts with an idea, works consciously with his feelings and translates realistic events into abstract images.” Dean Johnson has been working out of his Long Island studio, a hundred-fifty year old converted barn, producing art for prominent galleries, corporate customers and private collectors in New York, Florida and California. His one-of-a-kind pieces have caught the eye of Jack Nicholson, Howard Stern, Eddie Murphy, Woody Allen, Missy Elliot, LeeAnn Rimes, Dwight Gooden, and Latrell Sprewell, all proud owners of Dean Johnson’s work. A quick look at the Johnson family history provides early evidence of the creativity that is the hallmark of Dean’s work. His great-grandfather, Edward Hibberd Johnson, was partners with Thomas Edison and is credited as the inventor of Christmas tree lights...Category

- 17th Century Spanish Sculpture in Carved Silver Gild Wood Saint Michel,CastilianLocated in Valladolid, ESOne of a kind Baroque Spanish St Michel sculpture. A museum piece !! The artistic imprint shows the typical Castilian traces in the conception and interpretation of the subject. This allows us to frame the attribution to a close circle of the stela left by Gregorio Fernández (1576-1636) in the very recognized Castilian circle. The artist responsible for the creation of this magnificent carving has undoubtedly been trained in the footsteps of Fernández in the Castilian Baroque context. He powerfully remembers the Archangel San Miguel preserved in the reliquary of the Church of San Miguel de Valladolid; belonging to the first third of the seventeenth century. Both carvings show great parallels in the spatial conception, in the configuration of the cloths...Category
