About the Item

Deceptor is a minimalist, monochromatic and contemporary wall sculpture. It is constructed with birch panels, acrylic washes and completed with a satin lacquer finish. The paint is slightly distressed giving the piece more texture and interest. The acrylic wash allows the wood grain to show through the paint and creates an almost marble-like appearance as the warm brown wood grain shows through the gradient black and grayscale tones. Deceptor is a piece that focuses on the composition, balance, and form by using a limited monochrome color palette with a slight nod to the cubists, Marcel Duchamp and the futurists. The name Deceptor comes from the almost shadowy feel of the piece as a figure in the dark.
